SBI PO Exam – Basic Concepts Are Key to Success

You need correct study material and proper guidance and strategy to pass the exam on the first attempt. If you know how to prepare for the competitive exam, the job seems easy. SBI PO exam are highly competitive in India as millions of aspirants appear for the exam, and the best gets the chance to serve. The candidates who pass through the prelim and mains exam do not necessarily attend renowned coaching centers. 

Know the syllabus and pattern

To prepare for the upcoming SBI PO exam, you primarily need to know the syllabus and pattern of the exam. Most bank exams have two phases, namely prelim and mains, followed by the interview session. The pattern and syllabus of the prelim bank exam are mostly identical. The paper consists of English language, reasoning ability, and quantitative aptitude. The English paper comes with thirty questions with a total mark of thirty, reasoning ability paper with thirty-five questions with thirty-five total marks, and quantitative aptitude with thirty-five questions with thirty-five total marks. The time allotted for each segment is twenty minutes totaling an hour.

General awareness is crucial.

The pattern and syllabus of the main exam vary from bank to bank, with a specific time for each paper. In addition to the English language, reasoning ability, and quantitative aptitude, computer knowledge, and general knowledge about current affairs and banking are included in the syllabus of the main exam. General awareness is one of the crucial papers of the exam that tastes your awareness about the environment and socio-political events happening around the world. Broadly general awareness involves current affairs, the banking sector, and static general knowledge. Exam weightage of the subject varies from forty to fifty. In RBI (Asst. Grade B) exam, the weightage can be eighty. The exam pattern is available on SBI’s official website and in other intuitional banking preparation portals.

Time for self-analysis

Once you are familiar with the exam pattern, plunge into the syllabus of the bank exam. Usually, there is a difference between prelim and main exam syllabus; you must be proverbial with it. Once you are acquainted with both pattern and course outline, it is time for self-analysis to identify the strong and weak subjects. This aspect is crucial for chalking out the preparation schedule. Set a time limit and goal to brush up on subjects that you are not so good. Before two to three months of the exam, the notifications are published, so utilize these months for optimal results. Do not vacillate. The more you start late, the chance of cracking the exam diminishes. First, go through the topics thoroughly; the basic concepts must be crystal clear as it is the foundation of further study. Go through the study material of the subjects in between lines, and your concept must be clear to solve the problems. Do not confine your studies to pen and paper. Take mock tests of the SBI PO exam as much as possible. Prepare mutinously before taking the mock test. As a result, it can dampen instead of increase your morale.
